This is not a guide to what each country “really is.” It is a record of how countries tend to appear from Japan.

We collect the images, memories, assumptions, and oddly specific pieces of knowledge that Japanese people associate with each country — including the strange gaps between what we know and what we do not.

These impressions do not represent every Japanese person. If you read about your own country and think, “Japanese people know that?” or “They don’t know that?” — that is exactly what this series is about.
